As Commercial Lead, you must be self-motivated and care deeply about delivering important public services and spending taxpayers’ money wisely.  High levels of aptitude, enthusiasm and strong work ethic are what will make you suited to this role.  You’ll also have strong analytical and communication skills and feel comfortable working at pace to deliver innovation and value for money for the department.

As a leader of a team of 5 people you will be accountable for their day-to-day performance, their personal development and for identifying and growing the next generation of commercial talent.  Your team will be responsible for the delivery of category and contract management for HMCTS, which supports the Ministry of Justice.

The portfolio consists of a range of categories, such as language services, intermediary support services, enforcement, open justice, and some digital contracts. Due to a newly launched organisation structure, the role will be transforming the contract management practices and standards within the HMCTS commercial team to ensure standardised practices are implemented and followed. You will be leading this transformation and ensuring your team support the business with performance reviews, contract extensions/ negotiations, taking forward innovation opportunities, responding to contract changes, supplier assurance and developing lessons learned (note: this list is not exhaustive).

You will be required to work closely with a wide variety of, often very senior, stakeholders to make sure our contracts deliver what they’re supposed to and are properly regulated.
